What Kind of Equipment Will I Be Working With?

The Clarenville Volunteer Fire Department boasts some of the latest equipment in the province. Such as a 1999 pumper truck that can deliver one of the newest tools in firefighing - Firefighting Foam. The use of foam drastically reduces the amount of water required to fight fires thus reducing damage to property. This pumper also carries the Jaws of Life equipment for auto extrication calls.

Additionally we have another pumpertruck and tanker along with an Equipment van that contains each firefighter's personal protective gear (Bunker suits), SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus), High angle rescue gear, portable lighting and a state of the art Thermal Imaging Camera.

Fire Prevention

Responding to emergency calls is not the only important thing we do. Fire prevention awareness is a very important topic that we work hard to get out to our residents. We have a large video collection, print material and Sparky the Fire Dog. These, along with some creativity from our members, are effective tools that we have at our disposal to get the message out.

Some of our members say that there is nothing more rewarding that teaching fire prevention to the kids.

If you fell up to the challenge, applications may be picked up during office hours, Monday to Friday at the Clarenville Town Office, or Contact us for more details.
